Quick setup
Mount the iPhone
Secure the iPhone on a stable tripod with the camera directly above the ball at the guided height of 41 inches.
Center the ball
Move the tripod or ball until the ball sits in the on-screen target. Do not hand-hold the phone.
Check the scene
Use even lighting and a background that contrasts clearly with the ball. Remove fast-moving objects from the capture area.
Wait for Ready
Let True Carry finish its camera and exposure checks. Swing only after the app shows the Ready state.
Keep sessions consistent
For comparable numbers, keep the same phone, height, ball position, lighting, and ball type throughout the session.
Why placement changes the estimate
True Carry converts movement in camera frames into shot inputs. If the camera height, angle, or ball position changes, the geometry changes too. A stable, repeatable setup gives the model a more consistent view of the launch.
Troubleshooting a missed shot
- Confirm the app showed Ready before the swing.
- Increase light without placing a bright glare on the ball.
- Use a clean ball that contrasts with the mat or ground.
- Check that the tripod did not move after calibration.
- Confirm the full launch area remains inside the on-screen guide.
Different setup for swing video
The 41-inch overhead placement is for launch-monitor capture. Down-the-line swing video uses a separate position, roughly six feet behind the golfer at hand height. Do not use the swing-video position for launch measurements.
